Summary : In 1971, Nireno Suzume is born in Gifu Prefecture to parents who run a small-town eatery. Though she’s active and healthy as a child, she loses hearing in one ear in elementary school. Encouraged by her supportive family and childhood friend Ritsu, Suzume pursues her dream of creating manga for girls and moves to Tokyo. She works hard under her mentor and juggles marriage, motherhood, and financial struggles. After a divorce and the collapse of the bubble economy, Suzume returns to her hometown as a single mom, where a surprising new chapter awaits her.
